🎧 I whisper, because I'm Close

But after the fire came a gentle whisper
And when Elijah heard it
When he got out of the cave, he heard the voice
And the voice said to him one more time “What are you doing here?”
”Come here”, I said, “God, why do you whisper to Elijah?
When you got him out of the cave”
God said “I whisper, because I’m close”
— Prelude for Worship Find of the Week by Steven Furtick

I was rocked by these words the other day. "I whisper, because I'm close." What a paradigm shift! We often approach God as some old dude floating in the sky far far away. The reality is that Jesus came so that we can be close.

"But Jesus cried out again in a loud voice, and gave up his spirit. And behold, the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom."

Matthew 27: 50-51

The veil was torn, all that separated us from God the Father is gone. We have full access to intimacy, to face to face contact with the one who loved us into existence. He's not far, but close. His voice is not silent, distant, but close, right in your ear. Listen, what is he saying to you right now?
